ILM Academy began with a simple question: What if academic excellence and Islamic faith were given equal importance?
We’ve grown over the years, but we’ve never outgrown the values that shaped the school in the first place. Every decision we make is guided by the belief that education should develop the whole person.
Strong examination results matter. So do kindness. So does honesty. These qualities aren’t taught in isolation. They become part of everyday school life, influencing the way students learn, grow, and treat others.
Children spend thousands of hours at school. Their education should shape more than what they know. It should shape who they become. The values they develop, the confidence they build, and the experiences they gain during their time at school stay with them long after they leave the classroom.
Today, ILM Academy is home to a diverse community of students and families who share a belief that education should be both intellectually challenging and deeply meaningful.
2006
ILM Academy opens in Spring Branch, beginning with a single classroom and a vision for high-quality education grounded in Islamic values.
2007–2011
The school grows steadily, developing its Montessori foundation and adding elementary grades as the community expands.
2012
ILM completes its elementary program with the addition of 5th Grade.
2013–2014
Continued growth brings more students, teachers and learning opportunities, establishing ILM as a growing Islamic school in Houston.
2015
ILM establishes its Middle School, extending the educational journey for families beyond the elementary years.
2016–2019
ILM continues to strengthen its academic program while expanding Arabic, Quran, Islamic Studies and enrichment opportunities.
2020
ILM adapts its teaching and community support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
2021–2023
Enrollment and demand continue to grow, with ILM serving children from early childhood through 8th Grade.
2024
Growing demand places increasing pressure on available classroom space, with waiting lists developing across parts of the school.
2025
Plans take shape for a major expansion of ILM’s Montessori provision, creating additional capacity for younger learners.
2026
ILM opens its new Montessori building, approximately doubling Montessori capacity and helping reduce the waiting list.
ILM celebrates 20 years of educating Houston children, having grown from one classroom into an established Early Childcare through 8th Grade academy.
